Laroache Brothers inspired photoshoot

Image
In this past week, in my photography lessons we have been creating shoots inspired by various photographers. I did a location shoot with my friend Georgia, as the model inspired by Laroache Brothers. I wanted to create images which were bold with a lo - t of contrast between different colours. Which also had edited elements. For this part I used the pen tool on my phone to edit the photos and used a classic filter and various colours from the pen tool. I overall really like how these photos have turned out and how the editing really makes a big difference to the original photograph.

Experimenting with Adobe InDesign

Image
Last week I was experimenting with creating a flyer for a hairdressing company. This was my first time using Adobe InDesign however I have used other Adobe programs in the past as well. Firstly I created a shape template for a photo. Which I used the shape icon on the tool pannel. I then took an image from a file which I inserted into the shape. After doing this step I used the text box icon to add the appropriate information. I used the colour block icon to make the title stand out. I overall am happy with the finished product and do think the flyer would work well for the client. However I do think I could have added more louder colours to make it look bolder and be more eye catching.

Digital media in art and design

Digital media in art and design  Rosanna Webster is an illustration graduate who explores experimentation in her body of work. The Brighton University alumni and an emerging artist uses a range of mediums including film, photography and collage which explores diverse themes and meanings. With ideas ranging from exploring modes of play to shamanism. Starting with painting and drawing Webster expands to using photoshop and photography with a graphic design feel to her work. From an interview the artist said that she enjoys exploring different layers you can bring to an image for example incorporating a variety of mediums on computer and off. Her most recent work has incorporated film on photography which I think works really well together. She has big inspiration for Viviana Sassen who Webster sags has an incredible eye for composition and colour. She also likes Jeff Luker’s work which she likes how beautiful and intimate the work is.  Rosanna Webster currently has exhi...

Fashion and Textiles Museum London

Image
Yesterday I visited the Fashion and Textiles museum in London, for my college course. The museum is the only UK museum solely dedicated to showcasing developments in contemporary fashion also providing inspiration, support and training to those working in the fashion industry. The building is founded by Zandra Rhodes an iconic British Designer in 2003. Who I have researched in my coursework. The museum had a variety of clothing pieces people would have worn through the 1930s during the day and night time. I really loved who detailed the pieces were and how some of the evening gowns I recognized from similar pieces worn today.

Mini fashion statements

Image
At the moment on my college course we have been looking at Fashion Revolution. Fashion Revolution is a global movement calling for greater transparency, sustainability and ethics in the fashion industry. (Info from Fashion Revolution). Mini fashion statements are handmade to inspire othere to look for beauty which extends beyond a garment they have purchased. The scrolls are made to be put into the pockets of clothing on racks in stores to send a simple cute message to the buyer. I made my fashion statements that week and went into a local store to put them in the clothing racks.

Experimenting with Adobe Photoshop

Image
Last week in my computing lessons at college we were exploring how to use Adobe Photoshop to create different patterns with the different tools in the tools area. I overall found it quite difficult to add different layers so would like to work on that in the near future. Charlotte :)

Tate Modern

Image
Yesterday I went to the Tate Modern with college. We visited the Anni Albers exhibition. This was the first time I had heard of Anni Albers. She was among the leading innovators of twentieth-century modernist abstraction. Committed to uniting the ancient craft of weaving with language of modern art. She transformed the way weaving could be understood as a medium for art, design and architecture. She was introduced to hand - weaving at the bauhaus, a radical art school in Weimar, Germany. Founded by Walter Gropius, who wanted to create a school that brought together sculpture, painting, and art and crafts. Which I have studied in Art History class. Overall the exhibition examines her engagement of artists and designers. Information from Tate Modern I overall really enjoyed visiting the Tate and would love to visit other exhibitions in the near future.

New York City 2018

Image
Last year I was able to travel to New York City in America with my old school, for art and textiles. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life so far. We visited a variety of places for example the usual tourist places like the Statue of Liberty, The Brooklyn Bridge, the Met Gallery and a few more. We also went to Wicked on broadway which was amazing as I am a huge fan of Westemd shows here in England so was excited to see what the Broadway shows were like. We went to the garment district which was incredible, I had never seen so many fabric shops ever! I purchased some Liberty London fabric at Mood Fabric store. Fun fact I didn’t even know the fabric was Liberty until I saw it when researching Liberty of London for an assignment at college. We also went to where Project Runway is shot and I had a mega fan girl moment, we also met a lady how is a designer for Tommy Hilfiger which was awesome as Hilfiger is one of my favourite designers! And obviously we did a lot of shopp...

Project

Image
Hi everyone, In my computer lessons at college we have been using Adobe Illustrator to design shoes for example which have got a different print to usual. I took at Fila Disruptor shoe which is very popular at the moment and changed it using a side view of the image I found on the internet. Then using the pen tool on illustrator to outline the shoe. This then made it easy to be able to fill in different areas of the shoe, making it into my own style. At first I found it quite difficult to make an outline which was detailed enough as it is quite an odd Ahmed shoe. As I had used this shoe as I knew that it would challenge me. I think that a converse shoe or a vans style shoe would also look really nice as a outline. However I do like the Fila shoe. I also think that I played it a bit safe as the shoe is style a plain white colour. So I do think that it would nice with a bright vivid colour for example green or another bold colour. Which you can’t purchase off Fila. After this I star...
