New York City 2018

Last year I was able to travel to New York City in America with my old school, for art and textiles. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life so far. We visited a variety of places for example the usual tourist places like the Statue of Liberty, The Brooklyn Bridge, the Met Gallery and a few more. We also went to Wicked on broadway which was amazing as I am a huge fan of Westemd shows here in England so was excited to see what the Broadway shows were like.

We went to the garment district which was incredible, I had never seen so many fabric shops ever! I purchased some Liberty London fabric at Mood Fabric store. Fun fact I didn’t even know the fabric was Liberty until I saw it when researching Liberty of London for an assignment at college. We also went to where Project Runway is shot and I had a mega fan girl moment, we also met a lady how is a designer for Tommy Hilfiger which was awesome as Hilfiger is one of my favourite designers! And obviously we did a lot of shopping which was great.

Late Christmas project

Happy new year! Sorry but I forgot to post a project that I had been working on before Christmas and the new year. So thought I'd post it now, better late than never. This Christmas jumper/top has been created using a black long sleeve top, different festive themed fabric cotton fat quarters. Finally with a variety of different ribbons and threads to finish the garment off. I think it looks really neat and has been quite successful, leave your feedback down in the comments :)

Paper garment inspired by Susan Cutts

I wanted to experiment using the techniques which Susan Cutts uses in her work. I decided to create my own paper garment like what she does in sculpture form I used a fabric base in calico fir the bodice, then papa mashed with thin strips of paper over the top. Then created a ruffle neckline and bottom using kitchen roll flowers stuck on by duct tape. For the skirt I used duct tape and newspaper which created a tutu like skirt. Finishing with the same paper roses over the top to cover the waistband.
