New favourite sewing products!

Since I started my Fashion & Textiles course at college I have discovered new sewing products. I thought I would share some of my favourites on my blog.
 Firstly I had never really made my own patterns properly before joining college. Tracing wheels have become a very useful part of my sewing kit and I have started using them often when making patterns. Another pattern making piece of kit is the pattern master which I use alongside my tracing wheels when creating my patterns, they save a lot of time when creating my pattern pieces. Also I have come to love fabric wash out pens or fading pens which are so useful I have used them at college and on new small projects I’ve been working on at home. I find them a lot more useful than chalk as they don’t stain which chalk can sometimes do. 
In case you are wondering I get most of my sewing equipment on Amazon. I would like to make this a sort of thing I update when I find new products I love.

Late Christmas project

Happy new year! Sorry but I forgot to post a project that I had been working on before Christmas and the new year. So thought I'd post it now, better late than never. This Christmas jumper/top has been created using a black long sleeve top, different festive themed fabric cotton fat quarters. Finally with a variety of different ribbons and threads to finish the garment off. I think it looks really neat and has been quite successful, leave your feedback down in the comments :)

Paper garment inspired by Susan Cutts

I wanted to experiment using the techniques which Susan Cutts uses in her work. I decided to create my own paper garment like what she does in sculpture form I used a fabric base in calico fir the bodice, then papa mashed with thin strips of paper over the top. Then created a ruffle neckline and bottom using kitchen roll flowers stuck on by duct tape. For the skirt I used duct tape and newspaper which created a tutu like skirt. Finishing with the same paper roses over the top to cover the waistband.
