At college at the moment, we have been creating umbrella designs for our Stretch lessons. We are going to create a display with them in our college, and have long wall displays hanging down the windows down the sides of the display.
My design is inspired by artist Henri Matisse I incorporated colours that Matisse uses and shapes he uses in his work. I thought this photo of all the umbrellas was very effective so decided to show you on my blog.
Next year I plan to start selling items on my etsy, specifically childrenswear, and some handmade small sewing projects. However still working out what im going to end up making. Featuring anchor fabric which is 100% Liberty Tana Lawn blue fabric print 100% cotton
I wanted to experiment using the techniques which Susan Cutts uses in her work. I decided to create my own paper garment like what she does in sculpture form I used a fabric base in calico fir the bodice, then papa mashed with thin strips of paper over the top. Then created a ruffle neckline and bottom using kitchen roll flowers stuck on by duct tape. For the skirt I used duct tape and newspaper which created a tutu like skirt. Finishing with the same paper roses over the top to cover the waistband.
At college we have been exploring Adobe Illustratir further. We have been learning how to put an image into illustrator and put text over the top. I had seen this technique before but this was my first time creating my own. To create the clipping mask you insert the shape into the image and use the selection tool to select over both the image and the text this will mean that the image will be inserted into the text.
