Late Christmas project

Image
Happy new year! Sorry but I forgot to post a project that I had been working on before Christmas and the new year. So thought I'd post it now, better late than never. This Christmas jumper/top has been created using a black long sleeve top, different festive themed fabric cotton fat quarters. Finally with a variety of different ribbons and threads to finish the garment off. I think it looks really neat and has been quite successful, leave your feedback down in the comments :)

Paper garment

Image
For my 'white on white' project, during the 2nd year of college. We were experimenting with different ways in which we could manipulate paper, to create different effects that kept the paper in hold. This is my outcome, which I love with a woven bodice, 3D flower technique to create a sort of waistband, with a tule tutu skirt to add lift to the whole garment.

Fabric options for new makes for next summer!

Paper garment inspired by Susan Cutts

Image
I wanted to experiment using the techniques which Susan Cutts uses in her work. I decided to create my own paper garment like what she does in sculpture form I used a fabric base in calico fir the bodice, then papa mashed with thin strips of paper over the top. Then created a ruffle neckline and bottom using kitchen roll flowers stuck on by duct tape. For the skirt I used duct tape and newspaper which created a tutu like skirt. Finishing with the same paper roses over the top to cover the waistband.

DIY deckchair covers

Image
Recently during my summer holidays, I created some deckchair covers. For my families deckchairs. As the old covers were a bit ripped, they needed replaying. For the project I used a bright striped canvas, which I purchased online. Then I made two gaps, at both width sides, that created loops. I overall like the outcome, and would like to create more covers in future.

Photoshop exploration

During this project, I wanted to experiment with what images I could use on my chosen articles for my magazine. After experimentation that I had researched on photoshop previously, I understood the reasons why people use photoshop for example, airbrushing photographs, changing the shape of people, and the saturation of the images. For example, celebrities such as Beyonce, have been caught out for photoshopping images. Angelina Jolie had her modelling photos photoshopped and airbrushed also. Also, male celebrities have been caught photoshopping as well, Justin Bieber photoshopped his music cover photos, to make him look more buff. Which resulted in a lot of make lash from the media. Brands such as Converse have photoshopped their shoes to make them shinier, overall making them more. Body image is such issue within society at the moment, for example the rise and popularity of Instagram. Instagram models have become a huge influence to society in recent years.  In...
